Bogor Botanical Gardens
The Bogor Botanical Gardens (Kebun Raya Bogor) is a botanical garden located in Bogor, Indonesia, 60 km south of central Jakarta. It is currently operated by Indonesian Institute of Sciences ( LIPI). The Garden is located in the city center and adjoin the presidential palace compound of Istana Bogor. It covers an area of 87 hectares (210 acres) and contains 13,983 different kinds of trees and plants of various origin. The geographic position of Bogor means it rains almost daily, even in the dry season. This makes the Garden an advantageous location for the cultivation of tropical plants..
Bogor Presidential Palace
The Bogor Palace (Indonesian:Istana Bogor, Dutch:Het Paleis te Buitenzorg) is one of 6 Presidential Palaces of Indonesia, it is located in the city of Bogor, West Java. The palace is noted for its distinctive architectural, historical, features, as well as the adjoining botanical gardens. Istana Bogor was opened to the public in 1968 to public tour groups (not individuals), with the permission of the then President of Indonesia, Suharto. The number of visitors annually is approximately 10,000 people. The gardens of the palace have an area of 284,000 square metres (28.4 hectares).
During the colonial era the palace became favorite residence of the Governor Generals due to Bogor’s more adaptable climate. The palace was also favored by the late President Sukarno and became the official presidential residence until his downfall in 1967. Recently the new president Joko Widodo moved the president’s office from Merdeka Palace to Bogor Palace.
Grand Garden Resto & Cafe
Grand Garden Resto & Cafe has become part of the night tour at the Bogor Botanical Gardens has been known since July 2014. Previously, this restaurant was named Cafe Dedaunan.
Grand Garden Resto &Cafe is the only restaurant in the Bogor Botanical Gardens. Located at a height so that the expanse of gardens and ponds can be enjoyed from here. Fresh air makes the family gathering more fun.
Not only ordinary people who visit this Restaurant. VVIP like former President Obama also visited here. In June 2017, President Joko Widodo entertained Obama for lunch at the Grand Garden Cafe, which is located approximately 2 kilometers from Bogor Palace.
